Smoothies are increasingly becoming a life essential. They can be made speedily, healthily, and filling, thereby making them the ultimate quick fix for a meal, snack, or sweet craving. While summer calls for ingredients like watermelons and peaches, winter smoothies run a special path in the hearty department.

Think ingredients like hot chocolate, oats, almond butter, dates, almond butter, and more. Just the thought of those goodies paint a cozy winter picture, snuggled up in bed with a fluffy knit blanket, curled up with a book, and sipping a delicious smoothie. Well, here we go, with the perfect selection of healthy sips that are uncomplicated and quick to make and devour.

Also, one of these is a hot smoothie! Never had one of those before, and definitely looking forward to a little experimentation.

Hot Chocolate Smoothie via Running with Spoons

  • 1 1/4 cup (300 ml) unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 Tbsp (16 g) nut butter OR dairy-free chocolate chips*
  • 1 Tbsp (15 ml) maple syrup**
  • 1/2 cup (40 g) rolled oats
  • 2 Tbsp (10 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Hot Cinnamon Apple Smoothie via Clean Cuisine and More

  • 1 organic apple, cored and cut into large chunks (leave the skin on)
  • ¼ cup black or yellow raisins
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons raw pecans

Coconut, vanilla, and almond butter smoothie via With Salt and Whit

  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • ¼ cup almond butter
  • 10 small dates
  • 1 tsp vanilla paste, (or vanilla extract)
  • 2 cups ice
  • Sweet Leaf Stevia Vanilla Creme, or Truvia, to taste
  • Optional: Vanilla Protein Powder

Winter Berry Smoothie via The Clever Carrot

  • 1 c. mixed berries, frozen
  • 1- 1¼ c. apple cider
  • Honey or agave syrup to taste
