Okay, so maybe we don’t all have enough time to read the entire New York Times from front to back with a café au lait and a roasted vegetable omelet followed by a 10-minute meditation session in the morning. Actually, I may start waking up 30 minutes earlier just to accomplish that very routine. Anyways, the same old breakfast every. Single. Day. Gets boring after a while.
Here are some breakfast ideas to start off the day feeling energized and refreshed.
Eggs are always a good idea. They are quick to make, filled with protein and very versatile. Grapefruit is often the “appetizer” to my breakfast, but it’s a great source of vitamins and fiber, and is said to speed up weight loss (try it broiled for a change!) Greek yogurt is filled with protein and calcium (just make sure you don’t go for the sugar-infused varieties). Oatmeal usually steals the breakfast spotlight, and with good reason. It’s filled with fiber and helps lower cholesterol. The toppings are endless…berries, almond or peanut butter, shredded coconut, nuts, raisins, chia seeds, and the list goes on. Also, you can make healthy oatmeal cookies or bars ahead of time to take on the go.
Toast with sliced (or mashed) avocado and chopped tomatoes is always a great idea. Throw a fried egg on that and…heaven. Or toast with almond butter and sliced banana, also delicious and quick—perfect for on the go.
And at the end…the breakfast dream, you know…just a bunch of donuts.
