The no-fail guide
Summer, though playing hide and seek, is very much in sight. If patio barbecues and outdoor entertaining rank high among your weekend itineraries, prepping for the perfect hosting occasion is essential. This should be simple and enjoyable, not stressful and anxiety-inducing. Company comes first, so at least that doesn’t require measuring cups and
recipes. Next, hors d’oeuvres to nibble on and keep around, a refreshing cocktail that will last the entire meal, a delicious salad, and another main.
A bruschetta bar is the perfect setup. Nobody says no to some toasty, fresh baguette, prosciutto and cold cuts, a nice cheese variety, and a few garnishes like roasted tomato and arugula (recipe here). A sweet bourbon peach tea is a good crowd pleaser, plus simple to make (recipe here). Though a nice rosé or chilled white wine works too! A grilled salad is a unique touch to simple lettuce, and this grilled kale salad with ricotta, beets and figs is a beauty (recipe here).
Okay, and than there’s a tart. And not just any tart, but a galette with swiss chard and gruyere. I think all the green can be deceiving in the best way possible, kind of disguise the cheese, and be almost considered a salad. Right….? (Recipe here)
And…voila! A successful summer hostess with a lot of guests leaving impressed, satisfied, and awaiting invitation #2. Cheers to summer. (It’s close enough.)
