Hold the liquor

While sometimes there is no better feeling then curling up on the couch at the end of a long day and pouring yourself (a few glasses of) red wine, or hitting the bar with some girlfriends and getting a bottle for the table, there are other times when you are craving something that’s not water, not alcoholic, not soda and not…boring. For that,

there are a few non-alcoholic cocktails that do the trick in quenching the crave, but not packing on the liquor or calories you aren’t in the mood to consume. Here are a few options to get you started, and to get you thinking about outdoor summer barbecues, because they’re closer than we think. (Hopefully!)

Ginger-Lime Tonic via Love and Olive Oil

  • 2 ounces fresh ginger, peeled and frozen
  • 1/2 cup filtered water
  • 1/4 cup lime juice (from 2-3 limes)
  • 2 (8oz) cans club soda
  • 1 ounce tonic syrup*

Grapefruit and Rosemary Mocktail via The Casual Craftlete

Rosemary Simple Syrup:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 sprigs of rosemary
Mocktail per 4 glasses:
  • 2 cups fresh pink grapefruit juice
  • 1/4 cup of the rosemary simple syrup
  • 4 cups sparkling water

Non-alcoholic Apple Cider Mimosa via Watch What U Eat

  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice (chilled)
  • 1/2 cup sparkling apple cider (chilled)

Sparkling Pear Punch via Tablespoon

  • 2 cups pear juice
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 liters ginger ale
  • Sliced fresh pear
